8 Natural Home Remedies for Hangover

1. Sour Cabbage Salad

Healthy and nutritious, cabbage has been known as a hangover cure since the ancient Romans.

You will need:

  • 1 cup shredded sour cabbage (a.k.a. sauerkraut)
  • one teaspoon olive oil
  • one tablespoon of finely chopped fresh onion
  • one tablespoon finely chopped dill leaf

Instructions: Mix all ingredients and serve right away.

2. Lemon drink

Lemon is well known for its cleansing properties. Drink lemon juice first thing in the morning by squeezing the juice of one lemon and adding one cup of water. Add a teaspoonful of honey. Sip slowly.

3. Sour or fresh cabbage juice

Drink cabbage juice throughout the day.

4. Almonds

Eat 12-15 raw almonds with skin on throughout the day. Almonds help body fight intoxication and are very rich in salicilates. Hangover can also be prevented by taking 12 almonds and one teaspoon of olive oil before drinking.

5. Hangover tea with ginger

Ginger is perhaps best known as a cold and flu remedy. But it also powerfully fights the symptoms of hangover.

You will need:

  • 12 slices raw ginger
  • 4 cups water
  • juice from one lemon or lime
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions: Peel and slice the ginger. Boil it in water for ten minutes. Remove the ginger, and add the juice of lime/lemon and honey.

6. Hangover tea with wall germander & centaury

You will need:

  • Two tablespoons leaf & flower wall germander (Teucrium chamaedrys)
  • Two tablespoons leaf & flower centaury (Centaurium erythraea)
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions: Boil 2.5 cups water, add herbs. Cover and let steep for two hours. Strain, add honey. Drink throughout the day.

7. Hangover tea with buckbean & wormwood

You will need:

  • Two tablespoons leaf buckbean (Menyanthes trifoliata)
  • Two tablespoons leaf wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions: Boil 2.5 cups water, add herbs. Cover and let steep for two hours. Strain, add honey. Drink throughout the day.

8. Hangover tea with burdock root & boxwood

You will need:

  • Two tablespoons burdock root (Arctium lappa)
  • Two tablespoons leaf boxwood (Buxus semperivirens)

Instructions: Boil 2.5 cups water, add herbs. Cover and let steep for two hours. Strain, add honey. Drink throughout the day.
